2012

2012. One of my best years at Pt England school, and also my last.
At the start of the year, I was placed in Room 20. In the beginning I actually thought this year wouldn't turn out as I planned, but it turned put even better. I made some new friends, learnt new things. The achievement I am most proud of this year is becoming a Prefect, I got to put my leadership skills to the test.

This year has it's ups and downs the negative side has to be, leaving Pt England school. I will miss this Primary. The thing I wasn't proud of this year was getting work uncompleted and talking which I have learnt to control.

Orientation Day

On Thursday it was our orientation day at Tamaki College.  So all the Yr 8's attended three classes, the subjects were Science, Music and English. Below I wrote about the time I spent in Music.

Our 2nd rotation, Music. “What is your team called?”, asked Mr Telefoni(Music Teacher) I hesitated and said “Ummm...BOB!”. My team members, Sylvia and Selena laughed hysterically. The other team names were, ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘ 4 Main Men’. We were all competing in a quiz Mr Telefoni had prepared for us.

“What is the 2nd most viewed video on YouTube, in the world?”, asked Mr T.  Selena’s hand quickly sprang up,
“Justin Bieber - Baby! “,
“You are correct, one point for BOB, next question, Which musician died of Cancer to his toes?”
“ Bob Marley”, answered Naomi (team member of ‘Mary Poppins’)

“You are Correct! Now for the next challenge you have to write a rap or a song about school and perform it to the class”, said Mr T. All three of us thought long and hard for about 2 minutes, until the idea popped in to Selena’s head. Selena said, “ I have an idea, it goes...”.

“It’s time to move on, to your 3rd rotation”, said Mr Telefoni, having to move on to our 3rd rotation, we didn’t have time to perform our rap to the class. Apart from that I had a FANTASTIC experience in Music.

Toy Creation

In Extension we were set on a task. This was to receive an object from Mrs Tele'a and make it into a toy, somehow. The object I received was a calculator. So I thought long and hard until the idea popped in to my head. Below are my results.

If your ever get bored in class then my toy is just for you! It LOOKS like a calculator, but it secretly turns into a gameboy. There's no need for batteries since the whole thing is Solar powered. This toy is for ages 9 - 15.

Instructions:
Simply touch the 'ON' button to activate the device.

To switch to the gameboy, press 'MRC'. The screen automatically goes wide.

To switch back to the calculator, press the '+' button.

To go left press 1, to go right press 3, to go down press 2 and to go up press 5.

The aim of the game is to collect as many diamonds as you can, to save the world from destruction. BUT its not that easy, there's ninja's that will attack at any point.  You must fight until the end, and collect ALL 14 diamonds. 1 LUCKY player must do all of this.

Spoken Word Poem

Where I am from I see food being made with fresh ingredients bought from the market
Where I am from I hear the wind howl in between the trees
Where I am from I taste Mango freshly picked from a tree
Where I am from I feel the cool air in between my hair

The Farm House (Narrative)

As Leslie walked cautiously through the grassy path, a ray of sun pierced through the clouds. Trying to avoid the murky puddles, she smiled with relief as she could no longer feel droplets falling on her. Sweat dripped down Leslie’s tan face, as she walked continuously for hours.

She’d always fought and argued with her stepmother, but this time it was personal. So she fled. Just as Leslie was looking for shelter, the sky turned dim and gloomy. Walking towards a figure in the distance was salvation. As she reached the farm barn, the door creaked open slowly as she made her way in.

Opposite her was a, stack of hay. Well its all there was, so she slept on the stack of hay overnight. Waking up early in the morning, Leslie continued her journey for salvation. On her journey she had to face daring, treacherous pathways. She also encountered with a rattle snake.

Leslie had always feared snakes and so the day had to face her fears...or run. She ran for her life and out of nowhere, a helicopter came to her rescue. “HELP! HELP!” Leslie yelled jumping up and down. With her cold hand, she felt her heartbeat and safely climbed the ladder up to the door.

To her amazement, her real mother appeared to be seated in the helicopter. “MUM”, cried Leslie.
They lived happily ever after.

Thanks to Sylvia for helping me write this.

The Bush (Writing Sample)

With not much comfort but a tent and her friends, Emma was shivering. With the wind howling and trees shaking, It sent shivers down her spine. As the sun rose the next morning, Emma awoke to Mark already cooking breakfast.
“Where did you get the wood from?”, asked Emma curiously.
“I got it from the forest, where else.” Mark said with a tone of sarcasm.
“Hey wheres Harry?”
“I dunno, I thought he was with you” replied Mark.
“HHAARRYY! WHERE ARE YOU?”, shouted Mark with a slight emotion of worry. Emma began to worry, “ Let’s go find him!”. They searched all day and still there was no sign of Harry. Night time began to get closer and closer, so they both headed off towards their camp site without Harry.

Emma and Mark started heading towards their campsite. “AAAAAAAAHHHHH”, screamed Emma, what was that.
“What was what?”.
“I..I.. just saw something move”, replied Emma with great fright.
“HEELLPP MMEEE”, replied another voice.
Emma and Mark moved closer to the voice they believed was Harry’s.

“HARRY!” screamed Emma with great surprise. “ What happened to you, Harry? “, said Mark.
“Well I was just exploring the forest until...some tall hideous creature attacked me, it said stay away from here”.
“Let’s get a move on then” said Mark

As they got back to their campsite it looked like a warzone. Everything ripped to shreds, all their supplies stolen. Never the less they ran towards a nearby road to find their car. As they got into their car a dark tall cloaked creature approached them. Even worse was that their car wouldn’t start. Their fuel tank was empty. Suddenly.....

They were never to be seen again. Nobody knows what happened to them but legend goes that they were taken by the tall man who has no face. Their bodies were never recovered.

Narrative - Orientation

Today we had to write a narrative (only the orientation). We had to write about the picture below.
Here is what I produced this morning :

Petrified with fear of the British soldiers, I hid amongst the many trees. I soon grew weary of them, just waiting for them to pass one by one. Trying not to breath heavily, I came to realize there was no more than the sound of silence, but the wind howling in the great dim sky.

Olympic Day

“ARGENTINA”, I heard the people roar. To my sight I saw a sea of multi-coloured t-shirts. A procession was held in honour of this event.  Chanting and cheering filled my ears,”GO MEXICO!”. Everyone was truly hyped for what we had planned for today. We had a rotation of various activities.

First up was volleyball, not just any volleyball though. The number 1 rule was that you had to be seated at all times, it sounded quite hard . My team did pretty well seeing it was their first time. I had to be the umpire since I was the leader of Mexico.

Everyone tried their best to resist getting off their bottoms. As the umpire I saw a few sneaky tricks. Watching my own team lose, I predicted they would come back and score. My prediction was correct, with the points tied at 9, it was that one extra point that would make a difference. "C'mon Mexico", I shouted anxiously. The ball was off,it flew up in the air and over the net. It was nail biting momment, but Mexico won the challenge in the end.

Handball. It was quite a challenge playing against Argentina. All I could hear was everyone arguing saying it was a full, double bounce and full carry. My partner was Mubasshira who isn’t quite the best at handball, but I desperately was in need of a partner.

We were up and it was against the boys. I was getting the ball all the time because Mubasshira didn’t even attempt to get the ball, trying my best we were later disqualified for letting the ball go out.

The day was coming to an end, and everyone learnt about how to work together and about teamwork. If you can work in a team you can accomplish many things.

Sports Rotation

Making my way to the hall I was saturated by the pouring blustery rain. With the treacherous weather, I was wondering if the sports event was going to be postponed.  But as usual the show must go on! This was going to be an Olympic themed sports competition.

We were all separated according to our House teams, Takitimu(Yellow), Te Arawa(Red), Tainui(Blue) and Matatua(Green). I was the captain of one of the teams for Takitimu.

Our first activity was an obstacle course with Miss V. We had to maneuver through the cones whilst kicking a ball, then walk across an unstable chair, under and over some platforms and kick the ball into the goal. Unable to stop laughing, I was falling behind. “Oh No, not the jump!”, I was panicking, because I thought I wouldn’t make it over the platform.  Indeed I did make it over.

Next was Mr Slade with some cyber fitness, which was enjoyable. It was one of the activities were you could relax and have fun. Unlike everybody else I tried to do some of the moves.

The day was filled with fun, laughter and teamwork. We all supported each other throughout the whole day.

Social 2012

“10 minutes left!”, I exclaimed. As I was dressed within the theme(NZ Olympic Sports Team) I was ready to go. Entering the Yr 7 & 8 Social, my eyes widened with fascination, the lights were the center attention of the hall. Running the Social I was accompanied by the other fellow prefects, Selena, Toreka, Sylvia, Joe and Samson.

The night was still young and the social had just began. Minutes later the hall was full with music pumping. All around I could see people dancing to the music, under the shimmering lights.

A popular song request was made after the crowd demanded it. It was no other than the one and only ‘Gangam Style’. As soon as the song played everyone began to get hyped and started dancing.

A dougie was held and as usual only one can win. With the many entries, we lowered it down to two. With the contestants giving it their all, I could see it was a tough competition. The winner was declared...Nezinli(boy).

But as usual everything must come to an end. After the social I was asked if there was going to be another social, I smiled with a cheeky grin and walked away.

A Mournful Loss

“One small step for man . One giant leap for mankind.” Words once said by the great Neil Armstrong. He was the first human to step foot on the moon. Unfortunately at the age of 82 this reluctant American hero passed away due to complications of heart surgery. The world
mourns the loss.

Neil Armstrong, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin along with the help of Michael Collins, marked a monumental historic event, by landing on the moon. Not only was it a race against the Soviets, but it was successful.  This made Neil Armstrong one America’s greatest hero's.

Cross Country

Out of breath, I was desperately trying to reach the finish line. With a mud splattered back I was trying to maneuver along the treacherous track. Gasping for breath as various people passed me I thought to myself, "Oh no, I'm getting further and further behind." On my way to the bridge I encountered some of my fellow classmates starting to lag. With a burst of speed I passed them.

Shocked at how much mud had clung on to my shoes, I began to walk. Lagging behind again, I thought a steady jog would help. Pushing myself I picked up my pace. Halfway through the track though I felt a feeling of dread come as my muscles started to ache with pain.

Unsure of where my whereabouts I heard the sound of cheering and I was sure I was near the finish line. Drained of energy, I started to walk. My determination and perseverance disintegrated as I got nearer and nearer to the finish line.

Close to the finish line, I thought I should really sprint now but I was too exhausted. To be honest I wasn’t really proud of my determination, since I walked nearly the whole way. It didn’t really matter to me what I had placed, in the end its all about participating.

Valerie's Silver Medal

Valerie Adams, valiantly attempted to defend her title at this year's 2012 Olympics. She worked tirelessly towards this event desperate to gain another gold medal. However disappointment struck as Valerie was unable to defend her title, losing to Belarus’s Nadzeya Ostapchuck. Visibly upset, she was still proud of her achievements and showing gratitude towards her coach, Jean Pierre Eggar.  An emotional evening, it was.

Why Smoke When you can Live?

Smoking kills, this is one of many ways of dying.

The illnesses associated with smoking are cancer, heart problems, which can also lead to amputations and other diseases that can harm the body. These are the many effects of smoking which are caused by the 4000 chemicals in the cigarette, including nicotine and tobacco.  The chemicals travel first into the immune system then into your blood.

Smoking not only affects the inside of your body, it also affects your appearance on the outside as well. Your face looks old, wrinkles start to appear faster, you teeth start to rot and your brain doesn’t function properly. The movie room 20 watched gave a good example. The lady looked as if she was in her late 70’s, but it shocked me she was only in her early 40’s.

You can save up to hundreds of dollars a month and thousands of dollars a year, by not purchasing cigarette packets. Saving money to provide for your family and yourself, could change your life and people around you. Also, you could set an example for children on how to save their own money and their earnings.

Why do people start smoking? They could be doing it to impress people, trying to be cool or even trying to get rid of the stress you have. These are just a couple of points why people start to smoke. Think this before you smoke, what are the benefits of smoking?

When people decide to smoke, it increases your chances of having cancer. It also causes addiction, one smoke after another.

Brown Brother

Joshua Iosefo is a boy of pacific nation, who is a prefect at Mt Roskill Grammar. He wrote a poem about stereotypes and discrimination against pacific islanders. He then shared that speech the with the whole of Mt Roskill Grammar, his speech was recorded, then put on YouTube.

The poem ‘Brown Brother’, included many stereotypes. Stereotypes is labeling a whole group with certain characteristics. Within the poem it included stereotypes such as, never graduating from college, dropping out, teen pregnancy and many more. You can believe in a stereotype or not but just because everyone else is doesn't mean you have too.

This speech inspired me to do more because I'm a pacific islander,- don’t be scared to dream big, achieve, believe and succeed. I can do whatever in the future, but I have to believe in myself to make those dreams come true.

Precious McKenzie

Precious McKenzie the weightlifter, was preparing himself mentally for the final lift. The weight of the bar showed no mercy and brought tension to his body.  As muscles grew taunt his veins were bulging, with struggle to continue. reaching towards the end he was determined to succeed.

Sylvia and Jarna accompanied me on completing these paragraphs.

Ina Te Papatahi

For this term the topic is Art Alive, and we have been focusing on the artist Charles Fredrick Goldie in extension. The goal was to reproduce a painting of Charles Fredrick Goldie. Above is my version of the painting Ina Te Papatahi painted in 1910. Ina Te Papatahi was painted using a canvas and oil paint, but my reproduced version was done digitally. I would like to find out more about the moko on the chin, I believe the moko tells a story.

I observed very closely at all the detail in the painting like the blanket, moko, wrinkles, shading and  the background. All these features in the painting were quite difficult to reproduce. The hardest stage was colouring in the hair and background, as you can see I have used multiple colours.  I used the colour wheel on Hyperstudio to get the right colours, I had to be focused to get the right colours, but in the end I did.

Charles Fredrick Goldie painted Ina Te Papatahi and many other Maori people. Why? He wanted to preserve the Maori culture and he did that through painting. Paintings can last over 100 years, infact the painting Ina Te Papatahi is 102 years old.

Character Description

In class Ms Squires asked us to practise our character descriptions, so she asked us to edit a example she wrote.  Below is the original.

Ella looked at the names on the board. She turned around looking happy and said that her name was on the board. She had made it into the team.

Ella was really good at netball. She was very fit and coordinated and always represented the school in just about every sport possible. But she also lacked confidence in her abilities so was surprised to see her name there at the top of the list.

_________________________________________________________
My edit:

Ella looked at the board, her light blue eyes widened.  Her dark brown hair flicked around as she turned to me,”My name’s on the board, I am in the team!” As she came towards me she stared at me with both excitement and in shock. Grinning she was astounded that her name was at the top of the list.

Ella was really good when it came to Netball. She was very fit and coordinated, always representing  the school in just about every sport possible. The only problem was Ella didn’t believe in herself and lacked confidence in her abilities. She was capable of doing anything, but all she needed to do was believe in herself and have faith that she could do it.

Comparison- Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso

Born 1881 October 25th, Pablo Picasso became the pioneer of Cubism. In the year 1900 Picasso visited France where he met Henri Matisse, they became lifelong friends. Henri Matisse was born 31 December 1869. Although they both experimented with similar styles of painting they each become pioneers of different artistic movements

Picasso’s ‘Weeping Women’ and Matisse’s ‘Woman with Hat’ both had a similar subjects but different themes .  Matisse’s piece of artwork is just neutral, neither sad nor happy. It is believed that ‘Woman with a Hat’ is Matisse’s wife. Picasso’s ‘Weeping Woman’ conveys the Spanish war and suffering. They are two very different paintings.

The hue and the value of the two are sort of different, but they have their similarities. Picasso’s colours were  vibrant however he mainly used yellow, with some green, black and white. Matisse used very unique colours. He was experimenting with colours for a new style of art he was trying out which was Fauvism, If you look closely you will see that Matisse has used some Red on the nose and Yellow on the neck which shows shading in different ways.

The two had very different ideas of the line and shape. Picasso went for a very vivid, jagged lines and the shapes he has picked to use looks like shattered glass pieces .  Otherwise Matisse used almost unseen lines rather his outline of shapes came through using different colours. It was very unique.

In conclusion therefore, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso had their similarities and differences. They had very different styles but still had some similar techniques. Art is art.

Show Not Tell

Splish, splosh, droplets of water were summoned upon me from the sky.  Cars came one by one, sending showers of spray flying, dousing my face with water. As I trudged through the drizzling droplets, I was starting to become saturated.

Extension Reflection

I made a movie in Extension, were we had to collect up information about a famous person . We could pick  from a website called  Pacific Starmap or we could do someone else. I did an artist named Sopolemalama Filipe Tohi, who is also a sculptor.

Although I did complete a movie ,I did alright, not great. I think I could have managed my time better and be focused. I managed to get a conclusion finished which was good. For the next project we have in Extension I will try my hardest at, managing my time better, being focused and getting done before the deadline. Here is my conclusion:

Sopelemalama has taken a long journey full of ups and downs. In his life he has had a lot of wonderful opportunities, like showing his artwork in the Te Papa Museum. To get to where he has got to now has taken a lot of courage, focus and hard work.

Daniella Hulme's Journey

When Daniella was in her teenage years in Holland, she wanted to become an artist, but her parents were not supportive of her dream job. They held traditional views about what career pathway was appropriate for her. So she was a nurse for a couple of years instead.

Daniella met her future husband through nursing and emigrated to NZ. She got married and had children. Daniella’s husband supported her dream of being an artist so he got her into an art class to learn how to paint. It was through these art classes that she learnt the techniques of painting with oil. She liked the texture and the smell of the paint and how it gave her more time to work on her depth of colour.

Daniella's work is inspired by her husband's culture (Samoan) so the theme for the majority of her paintings are the pacific. She uses vibrant colours in her paintings because she likes to cheer people up and give people a sense of well-being.

I worked with Jarna to produce these paragraphs

Vincent Van Gogh's - Starry Night

Vincent Van Gogh’s artwork, Starry Night is a masterpiece.  I feel Happiness and dismay from Starry Night because the colour choices are bright, vivid, gloomy and dusky.  The brushstrokes show great technique and texture. Van Gogh’s emotions show through his paintings very well.

Daniella Hulme - Abundance

Daniella Hulme’s artwork Abundance is very representative of all of her artwork. She portrays her artwork with lifelike objects. Daniella mostly incorporates people, fruits and flowers in to her masterpieces. The colour choices she uses are very vibrant and vivid. Her style is figurative and Stylised.

Show Not Tell

I rambled about before I walked up the stairs. As I stared down at the people on the ground they looked like ants. My turn I said ,with a cheeky grin on my face full of excitement.

I propelled down the dim, dark tunnel full of swirling cold water. It felt as if a river had taken hold of me. Suddenly I heard a very high pitch scream, at that moment I knew it was Selena H (my friend) The water twisted and twirled me around as the water doused at my face. Then I saw a light coming towards me, could this be the end of my journey down this tunnel full of water, it was. As I was emerging out ,the water greeted me with a smash in my face.

Camp Highlight

Camp was FANTASTIC! All the activities were challenging, enjoyable, entertaining and most importantly fun. On the last day of camp we went to the Lagoon (Swimarama). I jumped in the pool for a swim. The felt as if it was frozen, but I was just exaggerating, it still was cold though.
I smiled to Selena(friend) as my teeth were chattering, 1...2...3... Me and Selena dunk our heads under the water to get ourselves wet, as we popped back up I felt like I was swimming in the Antarctic waters.

The day was still young so I decided I better pop out for a minute or two before my buns shiver off. As I was walking back to the pool I couldn't spot my friends...Suddenly they all popped out of the water as their hair flicked all over the place.

As I was jumping back in a group of men arrived, their was a rumour going around saying that they were the Warriors, I was gobsmacked. "NO It can't be", later as they got closer I could identify them , and it was the Warriors. I wasn't really amazed because I have my own little team I go for. Unlike everybody else cheering with joy and getting hyped I was just in my little corner at the end of the of the pool.

As the day died out, I enjoyed the rest of the day. It was truly an AMAZING day, after all it was my birthday.

Camp Highlights-Day 1

Camp is today, I said in my head full of excitement. As I entered the hall with my heavy baggage, I could already see people enjoying themselves. With the noise of laughter passing my ears, I was trying to find my friends, luckily I found them.

We started off with a activity called Box Fit. It was an exercise that included mainly boxing, running and co-operating. To start off we had a few intense relays, to start our bodies pumping. Secondly we learnt some defence skill which included boxing, boxing included things like a left hook and a few boxing combo’s, I swung my very first left hook at the pads Jay-lee was holding. Soon after that we were done and ready to move on to our tent building.

Tent building was also intense, everyone wanted the biggest tent so they could have more space to themselves . My tent I choose to put up wasn't the biggest or smallest, but I really wasn't fussy, I was glad I got a tent. I smiled knowing my tent was there for me tonight. The nine girls in my team(including me) built around 6 tents, it was quite easy to build a tent having the advantage of having 9 girls helping each other. So we finished those 6 tents and with a grin I said I'm hungry.

I cant wait until tomorrow for camp. Enjoying more FUN activities, learning new things as we proceed to each activity.

The Life of the Famous-Ben Carson

Born in Detroit Michigan Ben had a difficult childhood. His mother Sonya had dropped out of school in grade 3, and she got married at age 13. When Ben was 8 years old his parents got divorced and Sonya had to raise her kids by herself. She had to work 2 - 3 jobs to provide for her kids.

In the fifth grade Ben was at the bottom of the class, and his brother wasn't doing so-well either. So his mother Sonya was determined to turn their lives around. She limited their TV privileges. Instead each week they had to get out two library books and write two written reports about them. They had to give them to Sonya to mark. Because of her poor education, she was unable to read their reports, but she still tried . She also refused to let them play outside until they had finished their homework.

Unexpectedly in a few weeks Ben had astonished his class by knowing what type of rock the teacher was holding, he was holding Obsidian. When he answered the kids in his class didn’t know whether to laugh at him or be amazed. At that moment he knew he wasn't dumb. Each day he was hungry for knowledge.

I have written this with my partner Jarna.

Writing Sample - Picnic

“Heads up!”, Toreka(friend) shouted, the ball had flown past my face. My school(PES) was having their annual picnic at our newly renovated reserve. The sky was quite dim, but that didn’t stop me and my friends from playing a little game of Volleyball.

‘SMASH’, the ball had a roll in to the beach. Various people tried retrieving the ball,”Don’t TOUCH the ball”, My friends shouted. The ball had been retrieved, but not in the state we had left it in. Selena(friend) had walked off to find a spot on the fresh, green grass, then we(Thora,Mubasshira,Toreka,Selena,Athena and Sylvia) all followed along.

There wasn't much energy in us, but certainly lots of energy to demolish our food. “Hahahahahahah guess what I got”, Selena said with a cheeky little grin on her face,”What”, we replied...Minutes had passed and Selena still didn’t reply, rather odd I thought. “Ahhhhrg”, Mubasshira screamed, a bee flew past her. "Hahahhahhah", me and Sylvia laughed.

We had got a hold of a softball, so we started playing around with it.
Yet again the ball had flown right past my face touching my nose, I turned around and there TT(typical Toreka)with a grin on her face.”Are you MAD”, I shouted, “YOU could have hit my face”, I said with a rather friendly tone, she then replied,”Im Sorry Mino”, “Yeah, yeah thats what they all say”, I replied with a cheeky smirk on my face.

I grinned at my accomplice Sylvia, with a sinister look in my eyes I threw the softball up in to the air. “hahahahhahahah”, I laughed trying to cover up the embarrassment of my throw .

The sky suddenly went dim, “What odd weath”, just when I was about to finish off my sentence it started to rain,”You’ve got to be joking me”, I shouted.”THIS is Madness”, I said, but the picnic was FANTASTIC!

What am I?

During Extension today we played 'What am I?', before you played the game someone had to stick a piece of paper to your forehead so the aim of the was to guess what the other person had stuck to their forehead, but they had to ask you questions... I had stuck to my forehead the career-Model.

There are different kinds of Models, Male, Female, Car, 3D and many more.
Male and female models work in any condition, they also have to be fit and on a balanced diet.
3D models can be created by using the power of Geometry .
There is all sorts of Models around the word, some are not known, and some are well known.

Duffy Theatre

Everyday I’m Scruffyiiiing”, Duffy’s younger brother Scruffy sang as he did the shuffle. “Duffy come and play some rugby with me”, he pleaded. Duffy replied, “Scruffy wait 5 more minutes.” “Okay, Scruffy said, “I’ll wait 5 minutes.” But instead of showing 5 with his hands he had shown 3. He sprinted away eagerly.
Minutes  passed and Scruffy scrambled over the fence, demanding that they go play some rugby. ”But Scruffy I’m reading the best book in the world can you wait please,” Duffy replied. In disappointment Scruffy stormed off.

Scruffy came back again, and this time he said he had bought Piri Weepu along, but it was just an imaginary Piri - a trick to get Duffy to come and play with him. Everyone else had left Scruffy  so he wanted Duffy to come join him. In determination to convince Duffy he moaned, he pleaded, and he even disguised his voice as Piri Weepu.

My Mihi

Recently in Extension we have been working on our Visual Mihimihi, here is my finish product. In my Mihimihi are symbols that are important to me.

The first symbol represents my family and how we are Christian. The second one shows that I am in to art, my ambition is to be an artist and travel the world, one day. I also like music, I love to listen to old and new. Sports plays a role in my life as well, I like to play Rugby,Soccer,Touch and Volleyball, but I hope this year my list of sports will extend.

If you would like to see my Mihimihi on Flickr click here.

Feeling...

Tears of misery ran down her rosy red cheeks. Hunched over, her tears dropped to the ground like rain from the sky. As she blew her nose her sister was looking at her, but her hair hid her face.

Cybersaftey

Assuming it would be private Lucy clicked ‘Post’ thinking it would be private to only her and her friends .Moments later she felt hysterical, perhaps I should delete it, so she did , Everyone at school saw it. In vain she tried and tried to take down the photo off the school walls, but without realising it until now, she had been ashamed of her own doing.

Later that day she went on the Internet...she shed tears of misery & distress. Now, mortified she didn’t know what to do now. She went back to school,”UGLY”, was the first thing she heard.
Holding back all those tears was tough. She kept on saying to herself,”Life is Tough”.

Being Cybersaftey

Posting on the Internet is a danger. It is important we think before we post, because too often these days people disregard the dangers that are out there.

There can be serious ramifications if we, post pictures without being careful, because someone could just come and take a screenshot of your picture and send it to everyone they know and then it goes viral. The one thing that happens most of time is that, people think they can trust their friends by sending photos to them, but think again, it goes viral the next day.

Privacy is just a word on the Internet, you cant trust the the word private. The public could see all your photos and you don't even know. That's why it is essential to be careful on the Internet at all times.

A Day At The Beach

My teeth were chattering together as I was walking along the sandy beach, The sun slowly disappeared as clouds gathered together . Sky turned dim . A gush of wind swooped by me,”the element of surprise”, I mumbled. Wrapping a warm blanket around me, I grinned.
